About Avery

Friendly, Local, Family owned

Offering the Blue Mountains community a complete solar energy service from start to finish was a no brainer for us.

Hi, my name is Chris Avery, and together with my wife, we own Avery Solar & Electrical – a family-owned and operated electrical business serving Penrith and the Blue Mountains. We are committed to providing honest, reliable, and professional services.

With over 20 years of experience as an electrician, primarily in the security sector on various private and large-scale government projects, I decided to establish Avery Solar & Electrical in 2018. After years of extensive travel and long hours away from home, we wanted more flexibility and quality time as a young family.

Who we are

But we aren’t just your ordinary electricians, we want our customers to experience the same joy and excitement our home brings to us with energy efficient options and automated electrical design solutions.

We take pride in our workmanship – We genuinely get excited by the work we do and love coming up with innovative design solutions to suit your project needs.

We want to support our local community/economy – While we strive to provide you with the most cost-effective options, we don’t use cheap imports or knock off products and 9 times out of 10 our gear/equipment comes from local retailers or trade suppliers.

We are fully licenced – Electricity is not something that should be played with unless you’re an experienced and licenced electrical contractor in NSW so rest easy knowing we are fully licensed, accredited and insured.

Why Choose
Avery

We live and play in the Blue Mountains, so we understand the opportunities and constraints of our backyard when it comes to designing a solar panel and battery system for your home or undertaking electrical work.

We want to get to know our neighbours and provide you with the best solution possible, so our team will always undertake a site inspection and provide you with a solar panel and solar battery system designed to suit your needs – in both energy-efficiency and budget.

Chris will also oversee our in-house team of licensed electricians and apprentices to ensure that the installation complies with all regulations and industry best practise – he’s still on the tools so it’s highly likely you’ll see him up on the roof lifting panels, fitting off and training our apprentices. We don’t use contractors.

Our team of tradesman are all accredited installers under the Clean Energy Council Solar Accreditation Scheme which means they have undergone all the necessary training and are competent in the design and installation of stand-alone and grid-connected solar PV power systems, as well as solar battery storage. Being an accredited installer means we have access to the latest industry information and are eligible to receive government incentives and rebates – making it more cost-effective for you.

At Avery Solar & Electrical we are here to give the best experience possible.

We’re a small business with the ability to deliver big things, no fuss.

user location

Site Visit

We will meet you onsite to look at your project and answer any questions or concerns you may have. When designing a solar system, we consider a home's unique features, such as orientation, overshadowing, roof pitch and consumption.

Design / Quotation

Our quotations provide all the necessary details to ensure that your solar system is fully specified and include the financial and environmental benefits. Likewise, we provide you with a free itemised quote for any electrical work.

Installation

On installation day our in-house team of tradesman will arrive on time to install your new system. We make sure that all the necessary paperwork is prepared upfront so we can sign off the completed job on the day of installation.

Handover

At handover we supply you with all certificates, warranty documents and shut down procedures. Solar systems require installing a smart meter with your energy provider, so as part of the handover we assist with arranging the new meter upgrade.

After-sales support

We monitor all our completed systems, so we’ll be the first to know if something is not quite right. We love hearing from past customers so reach out to us at any time.

What our customers say

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, we are 100% local, with eight key staff members based in the Nepean/Blue Mountains area. Our in-house team of six technicians handles all solar, battery, Electric Vehicle (EV) charger, and electrical work. Chris, the company owner, leads the team, supported by Amanda, our brilliant administrator. We do not use any subcontractors for our services.

Chris and Kate Avery founded Avery Solar & Electrical on June 1, 2018. Since then, we have completed over 1,000 solar and electrical installations across New South Wales.

Yes, Rhys, our sales leader, will visit your site to understand your needs for solar installations or electrical work. Typically, you can expect a call within 24 hours of your inquiry,  Chris will visit within a few days. We can also assist remotely if that suits you better or if you need initial information about our services.

Yes, we specialise in helping clients transition to electric systems. We have built strong partnerships with local tradespeople for electric hot water and heat pump installations, major cabling, switchboard upgrades, and air conditioning supply. We can introduce you to our partners or manage the entire project for you, providing a single point of contact.

Yes, we offer financing options through SOLARIS and Latitude. SOLARIS is similar to a green loan from your bank, while Latitude offers 0% interest payments for solar/battery installations. Financing terms are available for 36 or 60 months for both options.

We are product agnostic, meaning we recommend products based on your specific needs, including site conditions, roof and shade characteristics, budget, and timeline.

Our typical recommendations include:
– REA panels (Australian designed and engineered) with built-in ENPHASE microinverters (AC modules)
– SUNGROW string inverters matched with panels from suppliers like Hyundai, TRINA, SUNPOWER, and REC.

Absolutely. We use market-leading ENPHASE microinverter systems, which are ideal for handling shade. This premium product range ensures your panels are placed in the most productive areas of your roof. Our sophisticated quoting tool models shading throughout the year to optimise panel placement.

Yes, we offer both AC and DC coupled batteries for new and existing solar systems. For existing systems, we can install an AC coupled battery like the TESLA Powerwall. For DC options, we use hybrid inverters like the SUNGROW SH model.

Additionally, we distribute HeatPac radiant heaters, which can store up to 35 kWh in heater units. We also offer Power Diverters to use excess solar power for electrical hot water systems, further reducing your bills.

Yes, we can. During our onsite assessment, we will recommend any necessary electrical work, often starting with switchboard upgrades. We also handle other electrical tasks and collaborate with local builders on new builds, fit-outs, and renovations.

Every solar installation includes ENPHASE individual panel monitoring or iSolarCloud (SUNGROW) consumption and production monitors. These tools provide full access to system performance, household power usage, and grid exports. They also help with planning for home storage and Electric Vehicle (EV) integration. ENPHASE systems allow for easy solar array expansion.
