Installation Day FAQs
Everything you need to know to feel prepared and confident on the day we install your solar panels or battery system!
We’re so excited to be installing your new solar panels and/or battery.
It’s a smart move that will help you save on energy bills and invest in a more sustainable future.
Our team is here to make the process smooth and hassle-free.
Below are some frequently asked questions to help you feel ready for installation day!
How long will the power be off?
For solar panel installations, we only need to switch your power off for around 15 minutes while we connect your system safely.
If you’re getting a battery installed, the power will be off for a bit longer – usually 2 to 4 hours – as we integrate the battery into your existing system.
We’ll always give you a heads-up before we switch anything off, and aim to keep any disruptions to a minimum.
How long will the installation take?
Most installations are completed within one full day. Our team will arrive in the morning, work efficiently and safely throughout the day, and leave everything neat and tidy when we’re done. If we ever expect it to take longer (due to weather or a more complex setup), we’ll let you know in advance.
Do I need to be home for the installation?
Yes, we’ll need someone home – at least during the start of the installation. We’ll need access to your switchboard, roof cavity, and roof space to get everything wired and positioned properly. After that, you’re welcome to head out if needed – we’ll handle the rest!
Will you need access to our roof cavity?
Yes – to safely run the cables for your solar or battery system, we’ll need to access your roof cavity. Our team will treat your home with the utmost care and make sure everything is done cleanly and safely.
Should I have spare roof tiles on hand?
If you have spare roof tiles, it’s a good idea to have them available on the day. While we take every precaution, we can’t always predict the condition of existing tiles, and having a few spares handy means we can swap out any that might crack or break.
Do I need a smart meter?
Yes, a smart meter is essential if you want to sell excess solar energy back to the grid and maximise your savings.
If you don’t already have one, don’t worry, we’ll submit the request to your retailer to have one installed after your system is up and running. This usually takes 10–14 business days.
